Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, May 4, 1992 
Rufus Wilkerson ``Egg Man'' Welch, of the 1200 block of Hanson Ave., a
warehouseman and a vendor, died May 1, 1992, in his home.

Mr. Welch was born in Norfolk County. He was employed with the Naval Supply
Center for 28 years. He had sold eggs for over 30 years to residents throughout
Norfolk. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute Street.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah W. Welch; a daughter, Sarah W. Cabarras of
Norfolk; two sons, Curtis J. White of Norfolk and Rufus W. Welch Jr. of South
Carolina; a brother, Thomas E. Welch Sr. of Norfolk; four grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church by
the Rev. Robert G. Murray. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be
held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be
placed in the church at noon Tuesday. Friends may join the family at the residence.
