Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, December 28, 1994
Rev. Oliver Welch of the first block of Neville St., a pastor and retired 
warehouseman, died Dec. 25, 1994, in his residence. 

He was born in Chowan County, N.C., and retired from the Naval Supply Center in 
1972. He was a member and assistant interim pastor of New Calvary Baptist Church 
and was pastor of Gale Street Baptist Church for 18 years. He was a U.S. Navy 
veteran. 

Survivors include his wife, Pearline Welch; two sisters, Carthenia Miller and 
Mary Lloyd; two brothers, Lincoln W. Welch and James E. Welch. 

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Calvary Baptist Church by 
the Rev. G.G. Campbell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The body will be 
taken to church at 9:30 a.m. Friends may join the family at the residence. 
Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
