Virginian-Pilot  January 14 & 15, 1941
William L. Wells, aged 84, son of John W. and Mrs. Mary James Wells, a native of 
Washington, D.C., and a resident of Norfolk for many years, died yesterday 
afternoon at 4:15 at a local hospital. He is survived by one son, William L. 
Wells, Jr., and two sisters, Mrs. M. Reeves and Mrs. Ella V. Means, all of 
Washington. Mr. Wells was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
The body was taken to H. D. Oliver funeral apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, 
pending funeral arrangements.

William L. Wells – The body of Mr. Wells, whose death occurred Monday, will be 
taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, to St. 
Mary’s Catholic Church for services this morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be 
in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
