Wescott, a well known citizen, died Friday night at 9 o'clock at his home on Washington and Lee streets, aged 75 years. He leaves one son who resides in Elizabeth City, N.C. The deceased was a soldier in the Union army during the civil war, during which he was wounded. He drew a pension. The funeral will be conducted from the residence this afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. W. Asbury Christian officiating and the interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. *************************************************** The funeral of the late Mr. Samuel J. Wescott was held from his late residence Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, Rev. W. Asbury Christian officiating, after which the remains were interred in Magnolia Cemetery. The following were the pallbearers: Wilson Beale, W.T. Topping, Severn Webb, Nicholas Knight, Barney McManus and Mr. Finch.
