Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, September 11, 1990 
Emma Dixon West, of the 300 block of W. 37th St., a teacher with the Norfolk
public schools for 29 years, died Sept. 7, 1990, in a hospital.

Mrs. West, a native of Norfolk, taught at Sherwood Forest Elementary School. She
was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church and the Norfolk and Virginia
education associations.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie West; a daughter, Virginia D. Dixon of
Alexandria; a son, Eddie West Jr. of Orange, N.J.; a sister, Vashti D.
Washington of Virginia Beach; and a grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in New Calvary Baptist Church
by the Rev. G.G. Campbell Jr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Friends may
join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hale Funeral Home and other times
at the residence. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.
