The Norfolk Virginian Pilot October 16, 1948
Miss Mary Elizabeth ("Mamie") West, 81, died Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the 
home of her niece, Mrs. William Foster, of 1913 Henrico Street, Estabrook.
She was the daughter of John T. and Olivia Daughtry West, and a native of 
Portsmouth. She lived in Berkley 75 years.
She is survived by a brother, Ernest J. West, of Berkley, besides her niece, 
Mrs. Foster, and nephews.
The body will be brought from the J.R. Williams Funeral Home, South Norfolk, 
to the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, where services will be conducted today 
at 3 p.m. by Dr. Beecher L. Rhodes, pastor. The body will be in state one 
hour before the services. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
