Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark April 7, 1917
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth West, wife of E. C. West, died at the family residence, Lee 
street and St. Vincent's avenue, Ballentine Place, at 5:30 o'clock yesterday 
afternoon after an illness of two years.  She was 56 years old.  Besides her 
husband she is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. J.W. Crawford, Mrs. Walter 
Fentress, Mrs. D.F. Roberts, Mrs. L.S. Capps, Mrs. J.E. Barbour and Miss Ernest 
West, all of Norfolk; Mrs. S.D. Shults of Wilson, N.C. and three sons, Herman 
West, Willie West and L.F. Perkins; one brother, Timothy Munden of Hertford, N.C.  
The funeral will be held at the residence at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon and 
interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.
