COVINGTON WEST DEAD Mr. Covington West, well known in this place, died yesterday morning at Cantonsville, Md., after an illness of about two years. His health began to decline little more than two years ago and later he went to the hospital above mentioned, where he remained and continued to grow worse until the end came yesterday. The deceased was born in Portsmouth and was a son of the late John T. and Olivia West. He lived in Portsmouth until 1873, when the family became residents of Berkley, where the deceased, lived until he left on account of his health. He was a man most highly regarded by a large circle of friends and was bookkeeper for the firm of Jesse Jones & Son, Norfolk, for twenty-three years, which position he filled most creditably up to the time of his sickness. In addition to a large circle of sorrowing friends, he leaves four brothers-- Messrs. J.T., Edward P., H.L. and E.J. West--and three sisters, Misses Mamie E. and Olivia A. West and Mrs. W.L Grubb. All are residents of Berkley, with the exception of Mr. J.T. West, who is at Round Hill, Va., for his health. A telegram was received yesterday morning of the demise and each of the members of the family were notified. Mr. H.L West left yesterday afternoon for Cantonsville to take charge of the remains which will arrive here Sunday morning. The funeral will be conducted from the family residence, corner of Pine and Mulberry streets, Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock and the interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. ************************************************************ The remains of the late Mr. Covington Ottley West, who died Friday in a hospital near Baltimore, will arrive this morning accompanied by the brother of the deceased, Mr. H.L.
