NORFOLK - Mrs. Alice West, 87, of 702 Fluvanna St. died Wednesday at 5:10 p.m. 
in her home after a short illness. She was a daughter of Abner and Mrs. Alice 
Snowden Ferebee and the widow of William Mott West. A native of Currituck, N.C., 
she lived in Norfolk more than 50 years and was a member of Annetta Tent 72, 
United Order of Tents, and St. Thomas A.M.E. Church, Campostella.

Surviving are three sons, Rudolph West of Staten Island, N.Y., and William West 
and Nathaniel West of New York City; five daughters, Miss Carolyn West of New 
York City and Mrs. Hannah Myers, Mrs. Ethel Sawyer, Mrs. Alice Saunders and Mrs. 
Pocahontas Bryant of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Clara Alexander; and two brothers, 
Johnnie Ferebee and Rufus Ferebee, all of Currituck; 15 grandchildren and 18 
great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to Chatman Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted in St. Thomas A.M.E. Church Sunday at 1:30 
p.m. by the Rev. M.L. Beamon, pastor.
