Virginian-Pilot April 22, 1960
WHALEN, JOHN JOSEPH, SR. – At a local hospital, Wednesday, April 20, 1960, at 1:45 
a.m., JOHN JOSEPH WHALEN, SR., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Whalen, in the 
89th year of his age. Remains will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for services 
today (Friday) at 10 a.m. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, 
St. Mary’s Cemetery.
