Florence Elizabeth Whalen, 92, formerly of the 100 block of Beverly Ave., a 
retired bookkeeper, died April 29, 1993, in a Norfolk nursing home.

Miss Whalen was born in Boston. She was retired from N. Block & Co. and was a 
member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Survivors include a sister, Rita Whalen Seiberlich of Virginia Beach; a brother, 
John Joseph Whalen Jr. of Norfolk; two nieces; three nephews; and several great-
nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, James M. Whalen and 
Edmund F. Whalen.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Blessed Sacrament 
Catholic Church by the Rev. Julian B. Goodman. Burial will be in St. Mary's 
Cemetery. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
