He was a native of Whaleyville, but had been a resident of Norfolk for 37 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fletcher Norfleet Whaley; two daughters, Mrs. Irving C. Wright, of Boston and Mrs. E.B. Tazewell, of Norfolk; two sons, William A. and Edward A. Whaley, of Norfolk; four grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. H.B. Phillips and Mrs. Joseph Robertson, of Suffolk; Mrs. Smith, of Hertford, N.C.; Miss May Whaley, of Baltimore; six brothers, Fred Whaley, of Spokane, Wash.; Peter Whaley, of St. Louis; Lewis Whaley, of Aulander, N.C.; Frank Whaley, of Suffolk; Silas Whaley, of Norfolk and Irving Whaley of Bristol, Tenn. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence tomorrow at 12 o'clock by the Rev. F.C. Steinmetz, S.T.D., rector of Christ Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
