Virginian Pilot March 26, 1956

Miss Mary Helen Wheat, 40, daughter of Mrs. Helen Byrne Wheat and the late 
Chauncey R. Wheat, died at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 9:35 a.m.
She was a native of Portsmouth and had spent her entire life in this section, 
residing at 820 Maury Place at the time of her death. 
Besides her mother, Mrs. Helen Byrne Wheat, she is survived by four sisters, 
Mrs. Juliet Kail, of Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Sheila Ellis, Mrs. Patricia Pezzella 
and Miss Katherine B. Wheat, all of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews. She 
was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 
The body was taken to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments pending funeral 
arrangements.

WHEAT, MARY HELEN - At a local hospital, Sunday, March 25, 1956, at 9:35 a.m., 
MARY HELEN WHEAT, daughter of Helen Byrne Wheat and the late Chauncey R. Wheat, 
in the 41st year of her age. Remains will be taken from the residence, 820 Maury 
Place, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for services WEDNESDAY MORNING at 10 
o’clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. Mary’s 
Cemetery.
