NORFOLK — Elmer P. “Dick” Wheeler Sr., 85, a native of Norfolk and the widower 
of Mary Frances Wheeler, died Saturday in his home at 3757 Dare Circle.
Mr. Wheeler had retired from a job at W.H. Swan and Sons Inc. after 40 years. He 
was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary R. Bowden of Norfolk; four sons, Elmer P. 
Wheeler Jr. and Steven R. Wheeler, both of Norfolk, and Joseph L. Wheeler and 
Edward B. Wheeler, both of Virginia Beach; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-
grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Christ the King Catholic 
Church by the Rev. J. Michael Breslin. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic 
Cemetery.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 
Norfolk Chapel, where the family will receive friends until 9 p.m. Memorial 
donations may be sent to St. Mary’s Infant Home in Norfolk.
