Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 31, 1939

Capt. Elmer Francis Wheeler, aged 67, husband of Mrs. Margaret Lanigan Wheeler 
and son of the late Charles and Mrs. Elizabeth Woods Wheeler, died at a local 
hospital last night at 7:05 o'clock. He was a native and lifelong resident of 
Norfolk, residing at 1042 Tunstall Avenue at the time of his death. Besides his 
wife, he is survived by two sons, Elmer Patrick and James Cherry Wheeler, both 
of Norfolk; six grandchildren and one niece.
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial 
Avenue, to St. Mary's Catholic Church, of which Captain Wheeler was a member, 
for services Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in St. Mary's 
Cemetery.
