Virginian Pilot November 23, 1962

                    C. M. WHEELOCK, 78, FORMER NORFOLK PRINTER

Clarence M. Wheelock, 78, labor leader in Tidewater, died Thursday in Printers 
Hospital, Colorado Springs, Colo.
He came to Norfolk in 1927 and was a monotype operator for The Virginian-Pilot 
and Ledger-Star several years.  For a time he was president and secretary of the 
Norfolk and Portsmouth Typographical Union and active in the Central Labor Union 
for years.  He also was a deputy commissioner of the State Federation of Labor 
and a Masonic leader.
He had been in the hospital since February, when he left Norfolk for treatment.  
He was a native of North Adams, Mass.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rachel Wheelock; two daughters, Mrs. R.L. Wood of 
Norfolk and Mrs. Harry L. Mitchell of Richmond; eight grandchildren and a great-
grandchild.
A funeral service will be held in Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home Sunday at 2 
p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
