Portsmouth - Mrs. Mary W. Whitaker, 50, the wife of John H. Whitaker, of 1507 
Cavalier Blvd, died Monday, Feb. 9 in a hospital.

A native of Norfolk VA, she was a member of New Testament Baptist Church, where 
she served as an usher.

Survivor’s include two daughters, Mrs. Loretta Anne Peguese of Virginia Beach, 
VA, Mrs. Karen Adams of Jacksonville Fl, two sons, John H. Whitaker Jr., Anthony 
P Whitaker, both of Portsmouth Va;  three sisters, Mrs. Lavern Manning of North 
Bell Port, NY, Mrs. Theresa Cromwell of Norfolk VA;  Mrs. Betty Floyd of Newark 
NJ,  brother William Morris, of Norfolk VA, and seven grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Thursday, February 12 in New Testament Baptist Church 
by Rev. C. H. Bowers.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.  Fisher Funeral Home had 
charge.
