Virginian Pilot January 13, 1993

A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed early this morning behind the Ocean Air 
Apartment complex in the 8900 block of Chesapeake Blvd.
Police said the victim, Jermelv D. Whitaker, was walking with friends behind the 
apartments shortly after midnight when he was shot in the chest. He was 
pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not release his address or any details of the shooting. No arrests 
had been made this morning.
The apartment complex last year added a police ministation to protect residents 
in the high-crime area.

Whitaker, Jermelv - of the 600 block of Chester St., died Jan. 11, 1993. A 
graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Magnolia Cemetery. Graves 
Funeral Home in charge.
