Mr. White had retired as a commercial engineer with Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk, Telephone Pioneers of America, the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club, American Legion Post 36 and the Virginia Beach Sports Club. During the 1930s and 1940s he was drillmaster with the Drum and Bugle Corps. He served in the Army during World War I. Survivors include his wife, Mary Davis White; four daughters, Carroll O. White of Germany, Marilyn W. Livingstone of Norfolk, Miriam W. Mansfield of Virginia Beach and Elizabeth W. Johnson of Antilles, Aruba; two sons, William H. White Jr. of Virginia Beach and Robert D.W. White of Winchester, Mass.; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Joyful Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by the Rev. Raymond F. McIntyre. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road.
