White, 52, Dies; Retired Business Man William Sutton White, 52, former vice president and secretary of S.R. White Sons, Inc., manufacturers of agricultural implements in Norfolk for 100 years, died yesterday at 2:10 a.m. in a Norfolk hospital. He resided at 524 Boissevain Avenue. A native of Norfolk, and son of the late William Silas and Mrs. Mary Armistead Sutton White, he took over the operation of the business, at 914- 932 Water Street when his father died and continued it until about 1950 when his property was acquired as a right-of-way for the new Berkley Bridge. He had been retired since then. The firm originally was the house of S. March & Company, established in 1831, and later was S.R. White & Brother, at 96-98 Water Street, which advertised in 1880 as the patentees and sole manufacturer of the Atlas and Clipper turning plows and the Stonewall cotton plows. Surviving Mr. White are his wife, Mrs. Alice Dalton White; one son, William Dalton White and one daughter, Miss Mary Alice White, all of Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted today at 3 p.m. at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments by the Rev. Palmer Campbell, assistant rector of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and the Rev. John A. McKenry, pastor of Ghent Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
