Virginian Pilot February 26, 1976

Mrs. Mary Banks White, 82, of 522 Spotswood Ave., the widow of William J. White 
and a native of Norfolk, died Tuesday in her home.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Christ Child Circle, 
Senior Citizens Club and former member of the Sacred Heart Council and Sodality 
of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. S. M. Staples, Mrs. James Sellers and 
Mrs. Thomas Bishop of Norfolk, Mrs. Clarence Kroft of Louisville, Ky. and Mrs. 
Thomas Bulifant of San Mateo, Calif; four sons, John B. White of San Pedro, 
Calif., James R. White, Thomas W. White and Edward T. White of Norfolk; three 
sisters, Mrs. D. W. Causey Jr., Mrs. A.H. O'Rourke and Mrs. Julia Fentress of 
Norfolk; 34 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A Christian Wake service will be held tonight at 8:30 in H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart 
Church with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

WHITE, MRS. MARY BANKS - In her residence, Tuesday, MRS. MARY BANKS WHITE, widow 
of William J. White and daughter of the late Charles and Mrs. Mary Adelaide Ross 
Banks, in the 83rd year of her age. A funeral service will be held today 
(Friday) at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, has charge.
