Norfolk Virginian April 26, 1877

DEATH OF MRS. LUCY C. WHITE - Our city suffered a painful shock yesterday at the 
announcement of the death of this young and much loved lady, the wife of our 
esteemed fellow citizen Captain W.H. White, after a brief illness. The sad and 
unexpected event occurred yesterday morning. Her bereaved husband and venerable 
mother have the deep sympathy of the entire community. The deceased lady was the 
daughter of Dr. Lewis Minor. She was in the very bloom of womanhood. Her funeral 
will take place this afternoon at her late residence at half past 4 o'clock.

FUNERAL — A large number of our citizens went over to Norfolk yesterday 
afternoon to attend the funeral of the late Mrs. Lucy C. White, who was well 
known and greatly beloved in the city. The bereaved husband and family have the 
heartfelt sympathy of this community in their severe affliction in the death of 
one so truly pure and noble.
