Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 24, 1954
Mrs. Lettie Catherine White, 74, of South Norfolk, died in a Norfolk hospital 
yesterday at 8:20 p.m. after an illness of five years.
She was a native of Bertie County, N.C. and had lived in South Norfolk 55 years.  
She was a daughter of Starkey and Mrs. Balzora Ann Myers Jernigan and wife of 
the late John B. White.
She was a member of the South Norfolk Baptist Church and Oakdale Rebekah Lodge, 
of South Norfolk. 
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. David R. Smithson, of Avalon Terrace, Princess 
Anne County and Mrs. Leon Landauer, of Norfolk; a son, W. Joseph White, of South 
Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Helen Iva Roane, of Norfolk and a brother, Donnie 
Jernigan, of Deep Creek, Norfolk County.
The body was removed to the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk, where 
funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m.  Burial will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery, Norfolk.
