The Virginian-Pilot, Monday, November 28, 1960

NORFOLK - Mrs. Martha E. White, 84, of 767 Fremont St., died Sunday at 12:15 
p.m. at her home after a long illness.

She was a daughter of Patrick and Mrs. Virginia Watts Henry and the widow of 
Lewis White. She was a native of Norfolk. She was a member of St. John's A.M.E. 
Church.

She is survived by one son, Walter E. White; two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Spady of 
Norfolk and Mrs. Helen W. Diggs of Suffolk; one sister, Mrs. Ada Pittman and 
three stepdaughters, Miss Eva White and Mrs. Minnie Harris, both of Norfolk and 
Mrs. Jeanette Joynes of Cape Charles.

The body was taken to B.F. King Funeral Home where a funeral service will be 
conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. W.L. Hildebrand of St. John's A.M.E. 
Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
