White killed himself Sunday night at 7 o'clock. Mr. White lived with his son, E.C. White, 208 Pine Street. The deceased had been suffering all day from diabetes, which disease he had been a victim for more than two years. He was in a melancholy condition. The family attribute the act to temporary derangement of the mind, brought on by acute suffering. He had had previous attacks of this kind but was thought to be in a convalescing condition. The only members of the family who were present at the time were his daughter, Mrs. E.C. White, and one small child, his son having gone for the doctor. The deceased was 59 years old and assisted in his son's plumbing establishment in Chestnut Street. He had been a resident of this ward about two years. He was a native of Halifax, N.C. and was a veteran of the Civil War. The deceased leaves two sons,, E.C. White, of Berkley Ward; and E. LeRoy White, of Camden, N.C. and his daughter, Mrs. C. F. White, Berkley Ward, also four brothers and two sisters. The funeral will be conducted from the residence this morning at 11 o'clock, with Rev. C.L. Bane, pastor of Memorial Methodist Church , officiating, who will be assisted by Rev. W.A. Smith, pastor of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. White, who committed suicide last Sunday evening at the home of his son, E.C. White, 208 Pine Street, was conducted from the family residence yesterday morning at 11 o'clock. The services were quite largely attended and there were several beautiful wreathes. Rev. C.L. Bane, pastor of Memorial M.E. Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. W.A. Smith, pastor of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. The interment was in Magnolia Cemetery and the following acted as pallbearers: J.V. Tavenner, L. Berkley, C.S. Rogers, J.W. Stickley, M.C. Keeling and O.M. Lynch.
