Virginian Pilot Thursday July 18, 1957
Mrs. Gertrude Cooper White, 76, widow of Samuel R. White, died in a Norfolk 
Hospital, yesterday at 4:30 a.m. after a long illness.
She was a native of Mecklenburg County but had been a resident of Norfolk for 
the greater part of her life, residing at 3011 Vendome Terrace.
She was a member of the Church of the Epiphany.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou Conover of Norfolk; one son, R. Sam 
White of Norfolk, one brother, J. Martin Cooper of Manasquan, N.J.; 
Four grandchildren, Mrs. Jane Chance, Miss Betty White, Larry Gillen and Barry 
Gillen of Norfolk; and two great grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Cox Funeral Home where the funeral services will 
be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. by the Rev. James W. Rush, associate pastor 
Epworth Methodist Church. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
