White, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loving friend received her "angel wings" on Oct. 22, 2004. She was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Parish, where she served as religious education teacher, volunteer art teacher, member of the Women's Club, lector, Eucharistic minister and numerous other ministries. Some of her life accomplishments include a tour of duty in the Waves during World War II, sewing dress and play clothes for numerous people, especially her children, and winning a variety of awards for her outstanding artwork with the Chesapeake Bay Art Association. She helped empower the less fortunate through her work with Literacy Council, NEST and the St. Pius Sandwich Ministry. Her loving memories will be cherished by her six daughters, Helen M. White of Virginia Beach, Maureen White, SND of Enugu, Nigeria, Jesse M. Gagne and her husband Jimmy, Jean M. Partain and her husband John, Margaret A. Holland and her husband Vic, all of Norfolk, Rose Kennedy and her husband Donald of Edenton, N.C. and her son, Thomas W. White Jr. and his wife Cecilia, of Norfolk. She will also be remembered with love by her 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing at 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk chapel. The funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Norfolk. Father James Parke will preside. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery and a reception will follow at St. Pius X Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Pius X School to start a fund for the fine arts.
