Norfolk Virginian Pilot June 22, 1940

WHITE, ALMEDA BAUM - At the residence of her son-in-law and daughter, Capt. and 
Mrs. Arthur W. Simmons, 320 West Twenty-eighth Street, Friday, June 21, 1940, at 
1:30 o'clock p.m., MRS ALMEDA BAUM WHITE, widow of Willoughby White, in the 84th 
year of her age. 
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, 
Thirty-fifth Street at Colonial Avenue, THIS (Saturday) AFTERNOON, June 22, 
1940, at 4 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, 
Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Almeda Baum White, aged 83, widow of Willoughby White, a native of Knotts 
Island, N.C., and a resident of Norfolk 50 years, died at the residence of her 
son-in-law and daughter, Capt. and Mrs. Arthur W. Simmons, 320 West Twenty-
eighth Street, yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock after a long illness. Mrs. 
White is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Simmons and Mrs. Wallace Stone, both of 
Norfolk; two sons, Branson W. White, of Norfolk and Langdon White, of 
Philadelphia; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a number of nieces 
and nephews. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, 
Thirty-fifth Street at Colonial Avenue, this afternoon at 4 o'clock, the Rev. 
Fred R. Chenault, D.D., pastor of the Park Place Methodist Church, officiating. 
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
