The Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 24, 1950
Mrs. Nellie Lockett White, 71, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., formerly of Norfolk, 
died in Roanoke Rapids Wednesday night after having been in failing health for 
several years.  A native of Chesterfield County, she made her home in Norfolk 
for a number of years prior to going to Roanoke Rapids about a year ago.
The widow of Marvin D. White, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and 
Mrs. Penelope Holt Lockett.  A former member of Epworth Methodist Church, Mrs. 
White was a member of the First Methodist Church of Roanoke Rapids.
Surviving are two sons, Allmand S. White, of Roanoke Rapids, and Travis B. 
White, of Littleton, N.C., and two granddaughters, Miss Eleanor Anne White, of 
Richmond, and Miss Elizabeth Stiles White, Littleton.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home today at 2 p.m. by 
the Rev. Joseph S. Johnston, D.D., pastor of Epworth Methodist Church.  Burial 
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
