MRS. WHITEHEAD, 90, WIDOW OF NORFOLK BANKER

Mrs. Irene Burwell Whitehead, 90, widow of Norfolk banker Hugh Grisby Whitehead, 
who died Feb. 21, died Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Episcopal Church Home.
A native of Raleigh, she was a daughter of John Bott and Mrs. Irene Spraggins 
Burwell.  She lived in the Norfolk area 78 years and was a member of Episcopal 
Church of the Good Shepherd.
She is survived by three daughters. Mrs. Richard M. Marshall, Mrs. Herbert Lee 
and Mrs. Elizabeth Whitehead Kelsey of Norfolk; a son, Dr. Hugh Grigsby 
Whitehead Jr. of Washington; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  
The body will be taken from H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Elmwood Cemetery 
Friday at noon for a funeral service conducted by the Rev. Sidney Swann of 
Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.  
The family request that flowers be omitted.
