Whitehead, 92, of the 300 block of Lynn Shore Drive died Nov. 17, 1998, at a local hospital. She was born in Angier, N.C., and was a member of Old Donation Episcopal Church. She was an original board member for the Day Nursery Program in Norfolk, a graduate of Miss Hardberger's Business College and Peace College in Raleigh, N.C., and was very active in the Humane Society for animals. She moved to Virginia after marrying William C. Whitehead of Norfolk, who was president of Batchelder and Collins Co. until his death in 1988. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Marie Campbell and husband, William V. Campbell, of Raleigh, N.C., and Helen W. Wozniak and husband, Frank W. Wozniak, of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Elsie Daniels and Patricia Covert, both of Sanford, N.C.; five brothers, Hannibol Wilson of Angier, Claiborne Wilson, Reginald Wilson and Leroy Wilson, all of Sanford, and Phillip Wilson of Arizona; three grandchildren, Patricia C. Rodgers, William A. Wozniak and Frank W. Wozniak Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Christina Marie Rodgers, Camille E. Rodgers, Robert H. Rodgers, John M. Koomen and W. Chapin Campbell. She was predeceased by two sisters, Maude Kelly and Iola H. Hair; two brothers, Nicholas Wilson and Howard Wilson; and a grandson, David B. Campbell. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, by the Rev. Irwin M. Lewis Jr. Memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A. or to the Alzheimer's Association.
