Virginian Pilot Friday February 17, 1905
The funeral of Luke Emory Whitehurst, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Whitehurst, was 
solemnized from the family residence, No. 244 Bank street, at 3 o'clock 
yesterday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. C.L. Bane, pastor of 
Cumberland Street Methodist church. There was a profusion of beautiful floral 
tributes. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery.
