Norfolk Virginian Pilot Sunday February 21, 1937
Mrs. Ella Davis Whitehurst, widow of Stewart Judson Whitehurst and daughter of 
the late Larkin and Mrs. Virginia Davis, died in Raleigh, N.C., yesterday 
afternoon at 5 o'clock, after a brief illness.  Mrs. Whitehurst was a native 
and lifelong resident of Norfolk, and was visiting her daughter in Raleigh at 
the time of her death.  She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Leigh Wilson, of 
Raleigh; a son, Stewart Reginald Whitehurst, of Norfolk; two grandchildren, 
Stewart Leigh Wilson, of Raleigh, and Stewart Reginald Whitehurst Jr., of 
Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. William H. Rowland, of Washington, D.C., and a 
brother, Edward Davis, of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be held privately at the residence of her son, 322 
Mowbray Arch, Norfolk, tomorrow, with the Rev. W. Taylor Willis, rector of 
Christ and St. Luke's Church, of which Mrs. Whitehurst was a member, 
officiating.  Interment will be private in Elmwood Cemetery.
