Funeral services for Charles Whitehurst, who died Dec. 25, were held at St. 
John AME Church, Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. with the pastor, Dr. J. R. 
Johnson Jr. officiating.  Mr. Whitehurst died at his residence at 602 Goff 
street, Norfolk.  He was regarded as the oldest member of St. John Church.

He is survived by four sons, Richard Whitehurst, Joseph Whitehurst, Thomas 
Whitehurst and Lemuel Whitehurst of New York City;  one daughter, Mrs. 
Bettie Jones;  one granddaughter, Mrs. Doris Overton, and other relatives.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with King’s Funeral Home in charge of 
arrangements.
