They were accompanied by Mr. D. C. Whitehurst, of Elizabeth City, NC, a relative of the deceased. The funeral was solemnized from Mr. H.D. Oliver's funeral apartments on Freemason street in the afternoon immediately after the arrival of the Norfolk and Southern train from Elizabeth City, which brought a number of relatives. The services were conducted by Rev. Edward Mack. D.D., of the First Presbyterian Church. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.
