The Virginian-Pilot, Wednesday, August 2, 1961

NORFOLK - Mrs. Claudia Whitehurst, 68, of 881 Rugby St. died Monday in her home 
after long illness.

She was a daughter of Jacob T. and Cynthia A. Jones and was born in Southampton 
County. She lived in Norfolk 51 years and was the widow of Bennie Whitehurst.

Surviving are a son, Bennie Whitehurst of New York; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma W. 
Jones of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Scott of Philadelphia; a brother, 
Rockefeller Jones of Norfolk; a two grandchildren.

The body was taken to Jones Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in New 
Calvary Baptist Church Saturday at 1 p.m. by Elder Sam A. Wilson, pastor. Burial 
will be in Calvary Cemetery.
