Virginian-Pilot, April 15, 1997 
Frances C. Whitehurst, 95, of the 3100 block of Shore Drive, died April 14, 
1997, in a Virginia Beach hospital. 
Mrs. Whitehurst was born in Norfolk. She was the widow of Franklin P. 
Whitehurst Sr. She was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in 
Norfolk. 
Survivors include a daughter, Cherry Whitehurst Wood of Norfolk; a son, 
Franklin P. Whitehurst Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren; 14 great-
grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. 
A chapel service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at H.D. 
Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. George D. Heath. The family 
will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Brockenbrough, 6243 Powhatan 
Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23508, following chapel service. The family asks that 
flowers be omitted.
