Whitehurst, 53 years old, died last evening at his home, 122 Walnut Street, after an illness of two years. Mr. Whitehurst was a contractor in Berkley for a great number of years and was well known in Berkley and Norfolk County. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Emma Widgeon Whitehurst, a son, C.L. Whitehurst, a brother, Samuel Whitehurst of Great Bridge, the former home of the deceased and three sisters, Mrs. Christianna Duke, Mrs. Kate Whitehurst and Mrs. Addie Johnson, all of the state. The funeral arrangements had not been completed last evening. ************************************************************************ WHITEHURST - At his late residence, 122 Walnut Street, Berkley Ward, Norfolk, Va., Thursday evening, October 30, 1913, at 8:40 o'clock, GEORGE D. WHITEHURST, aged 53 years. The funeral takes place THIS (Saturday) AAFTERNOON at 3 o'clock, at the above residence. Friends of the family respectfully invited to attend. Whitehurst took place at his residence, 122 Walnut Street, yesterday afternoon and was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. W.R. Flannagan, pastor of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. Burial was in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery. The pallbearers were R.A. Summerell, J. Jennings, J. Philbrick, W. Layburn, Severn Webb and C.B. Gibbs..
