The Norfolk Virginian Pilot October 1, 1943
Mrs. Pierce Lawson Whitehurst, aged 70, widow of Edward Henry Whitehurst, died 
at the residence of her stepdaughter, Mrs. J. Glenn Petree, in Princess Anne 
County, yesterday morning at 6:30 o'clock. Besides Mrs. Petree, she is survived 
by another daughter, Miss Virginia Lawson Whitehurst, of Richmond; two 
stepsons, Ernest L. and Lee E. Whitehurst, both of Norfolk; two brothers, Fleet 
and Willie Lawson, both of Middlesex County; three sisters, Mrs. E.M. Clarke, 
of Middlesex; Mrs. Ashby Jones, of Richmond, and Miss Bertha Lawson, of New 
York; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Whitehurst was a native of Middlesex 
and had been a resident of Norfolk and Princess Anne County for 60 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 
afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
