Whitehurst, 64, died Feb. 6, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Junius and Mary Susie Hodges. She retired from the Ford Motor Co. after 19 years of service. Madlyn was a member of Guiding Light Apostolic Church of Christ, Portsmouth. She leaves to cherish her memory three brothers, Junius Hodges, Howard Hodges (Gail) and Reginald Hodges; three sisters, Vivian Hodges, Neolus Backers (Linwood) and Clementine Hodges; special nieces, Tracie Warton and Regina Humphrey; special nephews, Larry Hodges and Eugene Hodges; a dear childhood friend, Phyllis Woodbury; and a host of other relatives and friends. Madlyn was predeceased by one brother, John Hodges. A funeral will be held at noon Friday in Guiding Light Apostolic Church of Christ, 115 Cavalier Blvd., Portsmouth, Bishop Alfred P. Bolden Sr., officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at the Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Street Chapel.
