William Samuel White Jr., retired from the Norfolk and Western Railway for ten
years, died at his residence, 612 Cumberland street, Wednesday night, Oct. 7.

A native of Northampton County, he was a son of the late William S. White Sr.
and Mrs. Peggy Spady, and the husband of Mrs. Nettie White. He had lived in
Norfolk 58 years.

A member of St. John AME Church, where he was active on the usher board and in
the choir, he also held membership in Eastern Light Masonic Lodge 4, AF and AM,
Arabia Temple, Shrine 12.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Charlotte White of New York.

Funeral service were held Oct. 11 at St. John Church, Dr. Walter L. Hildebrand
officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge
of arrangements.
