Miriam Brewer White Mansfield, 91, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021. A native 
of Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late William Harrison White and Evelyn 
Prince White and was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, CDR James Lawrence 
Mansfield, USN, (Ret.), and brothers, William Harrison White, Jr. and Robert Doyne 
Woodley White.
Miriam was an original Lady Monarch, when ODU was still the Norfolk Division of 
the College of William and Mary. She was a longtime resident of Corolla, NC, where 
she often spent time in her second home and enjoyed the beach, especially when she 
could do so in the company of family. Miriam was a loving mother, grandmother, 
sister and wife.
Miriam is survived by her twin sister, Marilyn White Livingstone, of Norfolk, VA, 
sister, Carol White Oldfield, of Norfolk, VA, sister, Betty Ann (Thomas) Johnson, 
of Fernandina Beach, FL, son, James Lawrence Mansfield, Jr., of Richmond, VA, 
daughter, Lee Harrison Mansfield (Robert) Lowe, of Nampa, ID, daughter, Mary 
Elizabeth Mansfield, of McCall, ID, and grandchildren, Margaret Franklin 
Mansfield, India Luise White Mansfield, Madeline Grace Lowe, Macy Lee Palmer, 
Charles James Palmer and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, June 11, 
2021 at 10:00 am, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. In lieu 
of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Miriam's name to Cancer Care 
Foundation of Tidewater or Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters.
