Mr. Whitley was a son of the late Axom and Mrs. Mary Barnes Whitley, Hertford, N.C., but had made his home in this section 20 years. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. S.J. Putney, Rosemary, N.C., Mrs. Samuel Green, South Norfolk, Mrs. N.S. Dudley, Cincinnati, Ohio and three sons, J.P. Whitley, Fort Monroe, Leroy Whitley, Norfolk and H.C. Whitley, Quantico, Va. and one brother, C.H. Whitley, Franklin, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
