Whittemore Intelligence has reached Norfolk of the death in Washington, D.C. of Robert E. Whittemore. The deceased was the son of Elizabeth Whittemore and the late Park E. Whittemore and resided with his family in Norfolk until they removed to Washington. He was thirty-eight years old and was a young man of many sterling traits of character. He leaves a host of friends here who will learn of his untimely demise with sorrow. He was a member of Norfolk Aerie of Eagles and one of the favorite soloists of the city. He had an excellent tenor voice and was the composer of several popular songs. Among them were: "I Love You," "Promise That You'll Wed Me," "She Was Born In Old Virginia," "No Loving Voice to Cheer." He is survived by three brothers, Messrs. J.E., S.P. and J.F. Whittemore, also three sisters, Misses Mary and Sarah Whittemore and Mrs. G.P. Jackson. His remains will arrive here this morning from Washington and the funeral will be held from St. Mary's Catholic Church at 9:30 o'clock. The interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. ************************************************************************** The funeral of Robert E. Whittemore was held from St. Mary's Catholic Church at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning and was largely attended, including a delegation from the Order of Eagles, of which the deceased was a member. Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father E. J. Walsh, associate pastor of the church. There was a lovely display of floral tributes. The remains were laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: EAGLES - L. E. Blondell, James E. Prince, James E. Henley and Mr. Pebworth. CITIZENS - Joseph Burke, Gabe Jacobs, C. P. James and C. D. Ackiss.
