William Conway Whittle and Mrs. Elizabeth Calvert Page Whittle, died yesterday at 1:20 a.m. at her residence at 227 West Freemason Street. Miss Whittle, who was interested in work with children, with her sister, Miss Edmonia I. Whittle, had been conducting a mission Sunday school in Atlantic City for children in connection with Christ and St. Luke’s Church since 1936, until she became ill about a year ago. Miss Whittle was born in the same house in which she died on the southeast corner of Freemason and Duke Streets, a Georgian-style home built in 1791, which is one of the few remaining landmarks in Norfolk. It was in this house that her grandfather and grandmother, Gen. and Mrs. Richard Lucien Page lived and her that both her grandmother and mother were born. Besides her sister, surviving Miss Whittle are three nieces, Miss Georgiana Whittle, Miss Betty Page Dabney and Miss Mary Beverley Dabney, all of Norfolk; and three nephews, William C. Whittle III, of Washington D.C., Beverly Randolph Whittle, of Norfolk, and William Minor Dabney of Savannah, Ga. The body will be taken from the residence to Christ and St. Luke’s Church, of which Miss Whittle was a member, for funeral services tomorrow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Taylor Willis, rector, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
