Virginian Pilot April 11, 1903

Miss Jessie F., daughter of Mr. Charles E. Wicks and the late Mrs. Fannie Wicks, 
died last night at 9 o'clock at the home or her father, corner of Berkley avenue 
and Cross street.  She was twenty years of age and up to the time of her 
sickness, a few days ago, was in the bloom of youth and beauty, with the most 
promising life of usefulness before her.  She was a member of St. Thomas 
Episcopal Church and possessed a pious and beautiful character.  She was highly 
regarded in social circles and possessed many admiring friends of both old and 
young, to whom her death brings gloom and sorrow.  There is perhaps no one in 
the community whose death will be so largely mourned as hers.  She leaves to 
mourn their loss a father and stepmother, two sisters, Misses Grace and Ruth, 
and uncles and aunts, Capt. John B. and W.S. Foster, Mrs. L. Berkley, Mrs. G.D. 
Williams, Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Evans. The funeral notice will appear later.

WICKS - At the residence of her father, Mr. Charles E. Wicks, Friday  night, 
April 10th, at 9 o'clock, MISS JESSIE F. WICKS, departed this life in the 23rd 
year of her age.
Funeral THIS (Sunday) AFTERNOON, at 4 o'clock, from the residence, corner 
Berkley avenue and Cross street.  The friends of the family are cordially 
invited to attend.
