Edward F. Wicks, one of the best known and oldest citizens of Berkley, died suddenly at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. G. Dallas Williams, on Mulberry street, yesterday morning about 5:30 o'clock. It is thought that the cause of his death was heart disease, as he had been troubled with that ailment for a long time. Yesterday morning, however, Capt. Wicks was apparently as well as usual and had arisen at an early hour for the purpose of getting some crushed ice for Mrs. Williams, his daughter, who was quite ill. He carried the ice to her room and then went to his own apartment, where he was found shortly after sitting in a chair dead. Dr. F.M. Morgan was summoned, but his services were unavailing. Capt. Wicks was 67 years old and was from Long Island, though he had lived in Berkley for many years. He was quite prominent in a quiet way and had many friends. Before the war he ran a line of packets to Smithfield. He leaves four children, Messrs. Charles E. and H.I. Wicks and Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Lycurgus Berkley. His funeral will take place this afternoon at 4 o'clock from Chestnut Street M.E. Church. Interment will be made in Magnolia Cemetery. ************************************************************ The funeral of Capt. Edward F. Wicks was held from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. G.
