Born in Norfolk, he was the son of Gloria Dailey Wiggins and the late Capt. N.B. Wiggins. Steve was a graduate of East Carolina University and a member of Pi Lambda Phi. He worked with Liberty Mutual and Prudential Insurance for over 35 years. He was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, active in his Sunday school class and served on various committees. Steve was an avid sports fan, however his truest passion was supporting his sons in all of their endeavors, especially as their baseball coach. With his wife Ann, he enjoyed vacationing in Corolla, visiting their children and socializing with their friends. Steve also enjoyed lunch dates with his Mom. Including his mother, Steve is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ann R. Wiggins; children, Michael B. Wiggins, Kristopher C. Wiggins and wife Ashley and Stephen Wesley Wiggins and fiancé Jessy; sibling, Debbie Butler and husband Sam, grandson, Boddie Wiggins, and Boddie's mother, Jennifer Etheridge, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Boddie was a special blessing in his 3 year fight with brain cancer. Steve's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Great Bridge Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Dr. William Langford will officiate. The interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Chesapeake. Memorial contributions may be made in Steve's memory to Relay for Life or to the Building Fund of Great Bridge Baptist Church, 640 Battlefield Blvd., South, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
