Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, September 2, 1996 
Genevra Frances Archer Wiggins, 74, of the 1300 block of Bolton St., departed
this life on Friday, Aug. 30, 1996 in Norfolk Community Hospital.

She was born in Norfolk, the daughter of the late I. Reuben and Aurella Cotten
Archer. She had retired as a school teacher from the Norfolk public schools. She
was a devoted member of St. John AME Church, where she served in many
capacities: trustee, member of the Chancel Choir, Sunday School teacher,
Davidson Ensemble member, officer of the Laymen's Organizaiton, past president
of the Dorothea Jacobs Fellowship Group. She was also a member of the NAACP, I.
Sherman Choralle and charter member of the Norfolk Mission College Board. She
was a graduate of Virginia Union University and did post graduate work at
Norfolk State and Virginia State Universities.

She is survived by three sisters, Miss Aurelia Cotten Archer, Mrs. Audrey Archer
Robinson and Mrs. Leah Archer Hunter and a brother, Clinton Douglas Mackey
Archer Sr., all of Norfolk; two sisters-in-law; six nieces; seven nephews; and a
host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John AME Church by the
Rev. I.W. Knight Sr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The body will be
placed in church at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Family and friends will assemble at Hale
Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Tuesday for the procession to the church. The family
will receive friends at 3568 Dana Lane, Virginia Beach until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
