MRS. M. M. WIGINTON DIED YESTERDAY.
Mrs. Mary Matilda Wiginton, relict of the late Robert Wiginton, departed 
this life yesterday morning at 3:25 o'clock at the residence of her 
daughter, Mrs. E. L. Cox, 126 Liberty street. The deceased had arrived at 
the ripe old age of 95 years 4 months and 11 days. She was born at Sawyer's 
Creek, Camden county, N. C., December 22, 1808, and had been a resident of 
Berkley for the past fifteen years. She had been confined to her bed for 
seven months, was a consistent Christian and a member of the Berkley Avenue 
Baptist church. In addition to a host of friends she leaves to mourn their 
loss, the following sons and daughters: Issac L. Sawyer, of Berkley; Mrs. 
Thomas C. Holt, of St. Brides, Va.; Dr. J. B. Wiginton, of Okahumpka, 
Florida; William L. Wiginton, of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. E. L. Cox, of 
Berkley, Va. The deceased was a well known and most highly respected lady 
and was of the best family connections in this section. The funeral will be 
conducted from the Berkley Avenue Baptist church either Wednesday or 
Thursday afternoon.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Matilda M. Wiginton, who died early Monday 
morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. L. Cox, on Liberty street, will 
be conducted from Berkley Avenue Baptist church this afternoon at 2 o'clock 
and will be conducted by the Rev. A. J. Ramsey, assisted by Rev. Dr. J. A. 
Speight. The interment will be in Magnolia cemetery.
